Native Guard by Natasha TretheweyTrethewey is a graduate of the University of Georgia. This collection explores "the racial legacy of the Civil War echoes through elegiac poems that honor her own mother and the forgotten history of her native South" and was awarded the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. Natasha Trethewey recently served as the United States Poet Laureate, and now teaches at Emory University.
